A vast difference exists between Epley Brothers hybrids and the mass-produced varieties offered by other growers. The most economical way for the major companies to sell to a large area is to average hybrid performance over the entire area being sold and then produce the best average hybrids. With conditions being so different in the same maturity area as you cross the country, this practice usually eliminates the best hybrids for a specific area.
